From our Resource Centre:
What is a (sub) committee? A committee is a dedicated subset of the board. An example of this is a Finance, Audit, or Risk committee. It is often a mix of board members and executives, with designated authority from the board to meet, discuss and recommend/ make decisions on behalf of the board.
What is the benefit of a committee? Some issues boards face are so complex that they require much more time than the board can spend in a meeting or two. Therefore, to properly address these issues, boards can set up committees to cover specific topics and needs, making them more efficient.
How do I run committee meetings in BoardPro?
BoardPro offers dedicated committee accounts, which enable committees to have a separate workflow for people, meetings, actions, and documents. People on that committee who are not on the Board can see only the committee information.
Does my committee have the same features as the board?
Yes, your committee has all of the features that your board enjoys so that you can manage the meetings and between-meeting activities of the committees just as easily! You will notice a few label changes, such as 'Committee Members' and 'Meeting packs.'
Is there any overlap between the board and the committees?
At this time, no. While they are nested under the main board, they are stand-alone, so there is no crossover. This allows you to run independent meetings, actions, and decisions.
Is there a cost to committees?
Yes. The price for a committee is determined by whether your Board is a Commercial or a Non-Profit subscription.
We want to add committees to our subscription. How do we do that?
You can purchase additional committee licences under your Organisational Settings. Creating and Managing Committees
How many committees can we have for our account?
You can purchase as many as you require. Customers purchasing three or more committee licences may be eligible for a discount. The "Talk to Sales" option allows you to schedule a time with a salesperson. This option closes the licence dialogue without adding or charging your subscription.
Can we cancel a committee?
Yes, on the same page as adding them.
Does that mean everyone can access committees from this page even if they are not invited?
No. Only those invited to a committee have access. If a person clicks on a committee they do not have access to, they will see a warning that they do not have permission to view the committee.
Do I have to add the people from the board to a committee manually?
No. You can directly copy over people and their interests to a committee using the Import button at the top of the People List page. You then only need to grant them access.
Can someone on multiple committees have a different access level for each?
Yes! You can allocate unique access levels to each of your committees. BoardPro gives you the access level you need for every board or committee.
Can I access all of my boards and committees with one login?
Yes, that's right. When you have been added with the same email address for each board and committee, you only need to log in once to access them.
Where can I find all the committees I sit on?
You can find them under the My BoardPro Dashboard. Committees will be indented underneath the main board.
Why can’t I find my committees?
You may have been added to a committee using a different email address or have yet to be granted access. Please check with your Administrator or contact the CS team at support@boardpro.com
