Multi‑factor authentication (MFA) is a layered security method that requires you to prove your identity using two or more different factors before gaining access to an account or system. Similar to adding additional locks to your door. It’s strongly recommended (and increasingly required by organisations) for protecting critical accounts -like BoardPro!

MFA settings and the verification method you choose in BoardPro are unique to you. If you need to make changes, such as when changing your email address or getting a new phone or switching MFA methods, you must update these manually. You are the only person who can enable and make these changes.

Enable MFA in BoardPro

Go to your personal account menu on the lower left and select Settings.

Select the Login & Security tab.

Choose your MFA authentication method :

  • Authenticator App

  • Email Verification:

1. Authenticator App (recommended)

Before you begin, you will need to install an authenticator app on your phone (eg Microsoft Authenticator). If you are new to authenticator apps, you can learn more here: Authenticator Apps (MFA).

Click Set Up next to 'Authenticator App' to begin.

Open your authenticator app on your phone. Tap the "+" icon to add an account. Scan the QR code shown by BoardPro.

Enter the code that the authenticator app generates and click Verify to complete the setup process.

Once verified, you will be returned to the Login & Security tab where you will see an "Enabled" label next to the method.

Note: If you change your device, you must manually update this setting. It’s tied only to your current app/device.

This video (1min) will show you the process of enabling MFA using the Authenticator App method from end to end.

2. Email Verification

Click Set Up next to Email Verification to begin.

You'll see a pop-up reminding you to check your email inbox for the code each time you log in. Click Enable to confirm.

Once enabled, you will see a green “Enabled” label next to Email Verification.

Note: The People List page will display an 'MFA' label against each user in your organisation with MFA enabled.

Tip : Test by logging out and logging back in to ensure you receive the code. If not, check your Spam/Junk folder. Contact Support in live chat if you need help.

Managing MFA Lockouts

If you’re locked out of your account due to MFA (you’ve changed email address or lost your device and need to disable MFA) please read how to manage and prevent Multi-Factor Authentication Lockouts (MFA).
