What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your BoardPro account by requiring a verification code from an authenticator app or email, in addition to your password
How do I set up MFA on my BoardPro account?
You can enable MFA by going to your Login & Security settings in your Profile. Choose your preferred method (authenticator app or email), and follow the steps to complete setup.
Enable MFA
Which authenticator apps are supported?
You can use any authenticator app that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP). Common apps include:
Google Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Authy
1Password
LastPass Authenticator
Can I use email instead of an authenticator app?
Yes, BoardPro supports email-based MFA as an alternative. While not as secure as an authenticator app, it still provides a second verification step.
You can switch between methods anytime from your Login & Security settings.
I'm switching to a new phone — how do I move my MFA?
Before switching phones:
Log in to BoardPro on your old device.
Go to your Login & Security settings.
Either:
Turn off MFA, or
Switch to email-based MFA temporarily.
Once your new phone is ready:
Download your authenticator app.
Log in to BoardPro and re-enable MFA using your new device.
What should I do if I lose access to my authenticator app, or if I’ve changed my email or device?
If you've lost your phone, changed emails or can’t access your authenticator app:
In all scenarios, ask your Account Owner or the Board Chair to contact the Support team via in-app live chat or email (support@boardpro.com).
We will verify the request and disable MFA for your account so you can get back in.
I’m getting multiple BoardPro codes in my authenticator app — why?
This usually happens if you’ve previously disabled MFA, then re-enabled it. Each time you enable MFA, a new entry is added in your authenticator app. To tidy this up, you can manually delete any old or unused BoardPro entries from the app.
Why am I still being asked for a code after disabling MFA?
It may take a few moments for the change to fully take effect. If you’re still being prompted for a code:
Refresh your login session.
Check your Login & Security settings to confirm that MFA is showing as “Disabled”.
If the issue persists, contact our Support Team.
I’m getting an "Invalid Code" error — what should I do?
This usually means your device's time is out of sync. Check your phone’s time settings and ensure “Set time automatically” is enabled.
If the issue continues, try re-scanning the QR code or contact support.
Can I see who has enabled MFA on their account?
You can check a user's MFA status by going to the People tab on the left hand navigation panel of the account. If MFA is enabled for a user, you’ll see a green tick next to MFA beside their name
Does BoardPro have a blanket MFA option to enforce MFA for all users?
At present, BoardPro does not support mandatory MFA enforcement by admins. Users must enable MFA individually.
Can I use the same authenticator app for multiple BoardPro accounts?
Yes, if you manage or are part of multiple organisations using BoardPro, you can add multiple MFA entries to your authenticator app. Each account will generate a unique code.
What happens if I don’t set up MFA?
MFA is optional but strongly recommended. If you skip setup, your account will rely solely on your password for login security.
